Knowledge. Passion. Perseverance. 3 traits that helped me learn to trade.

My journey in the stock market happened quite by accident. Back in 2011, I was working for a small marketing firm when one day I walked over to a co-workers cubicle to see if he wanted to go to lunch. As I approached, I heard him softly say, “Shit…I can’t believe this. SHIT..!!” As I rounded the corner to his cubicle, he minimized his monitors. I asked him if he was ok and if he wanted to get lunch. He said “dude, I can’t eat right now…I’m losing my ass on coffee.” I was like “huh?” He then brought back up his monitors and said “check this out”. All of a sudden I was looking at squiggly lines, flashing numbers, and what looked like blocks on a chart. He told me he was trading coffee futures and was taking a bath on his position and he was getting ready to dump it for a loss. Needless to say I had no idea what he was talking about but I was mesmerized by what I saw on the computer screen (as well as his account balance that was six-figures). The next day we went to lunch and he told me that he used to be a stock broker on Wall Street and that he trades his own accounts. I was captivated by him explaining his life on Wall Street and trading in general. I asked him if he could teach me and he quickly said no. He said he didn’t have the time to invest into teaching someone how to trade but he told me I could get the knowledge in one of three ways. He said One, go to college and get a finance degree. Two, go on the internet and buy a course from someone and hope you don’t get ripped off. Or Three, he said if you really want to learn this, all of the information is out there on the internet FOR FREE.  All you have to do is find it, learn, and practice, practice, practice. He said he would be there to answer any questions. And so that began my trading journey. I spent every waking hour I wasn’t working, or with family to search out the information I so badly wanted. I went back to my “trader friend” at work a few weeks later and showed him what I had learned. He was impressed and said I would be a hell of a stock trader one day but I better get together at least $100,000 as stock trading was expensive. Well, that took the wind out of my sails. I was deflated! He chuckled and said, “you know you need capital to trade with, right?”. I told him I hadn’t really thought about it and I guess my dreams of trading anytime soon just went up in smoke. He then said, “there is a way…but it is way more complicated than stock trading but if you can learn it, you can trade with a fraction of that amount and make even more money than stock trading.” Ok, I was hooked all over again. I asked him, “well, what is it?” He said, “learn to trade options.” I was like “huh?”. He explained to me what options were and explained that the learning curve was steep but doable, especially if I wanted it badly enough. So that conversation began my journey down the path of options trading. While sourcing information on options, I was very fortunate and met an honest, ethical trader online who was teaching an options course. After speaking with him, he struck me as someone I could trust and I rolled the dice and purchased his course. I was lucky as I was one of the last students he taught directly. Because I came in on the last month of the course (it had been in session for a few months before I joined) he gave me 90% off of the course since I would have to do a lot of self-study but, he said if I really wanted to learn options badly enough, all of the information was there and he would be available to answer any questions I had. And that my friends is how I got my BASIC options education. The rest of my knowledge, all of the advance concepts that I’ve learned, the greeks, the various (and complex) trading strategies, technical analysis, candlestick patterns, chart patterns, price action, volume analysis, etc. has all been self-taught through reading books, watching videos, practice trading, trial and error, losing money and all the while never giving up no matter how painful things got. My passion for trading has always been greater than any trading pain I’ve ever suffered (and I’ve had some doozies). My passion for trading, the perseverance to be the best trader I can possibly be, is what keeps me in this game when things get tough…and in trading things always get tough.

I LOVE trading. I LOVE options. I LOVE the markets. It is one of my biggest passions. Trading doesn’t come easy…nothing in life that is worth it does, but trading is rewarding, not only financially, but in so many other ways. It is a competitive field (maybe the MOST competitive field) where people compete and go to war with their dollars…lots of them. It is a very real possibility to bring home more dollars than those you go into battle with. Traders do it everyday. It’s why we trade.

And that’s my story.

I created this website to share knowledge, information, and my passion with both those who are knowledgeable and those who want to learn.

Together we are the trading revolution.
